arrow_backTo the overviewThe DC ground leakage relay is designed to monitor ungrounded DC IT systems for insulation degradation or faults.
The DDEA, powered from the system to be monitored, is connected to ground through an active current limiting circuit that attempts to keep the ground voltage at half the system voltage.
If there is a leakage to ground from one of the supply lines, the DDEA will compensate by keeping the ground voltage at half the supply voltage.
Ungrounded systems can work even with a direct short from the wiring to ground, but another short or leakage from another point in the system can be fatal.
DDEA solves the problem by monitoring the circuit and giving an early warning as soon as it detects a leakage current greater than the set value.
